BLM announces upcoming meeting of Southern New Mexico Resource Advisory Council

Roswell, New Mexico - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announces an upcoming meeting of the Southern New Mexico Resource Advisory Council (RAC). RACs are critical in assisting BLM with public land management decisions and continuing to serve local communities.

The meeting is at the BLM Roswell Field Office September 16th and 17th from 8 am to 4 pm. You can email Wendy Brown, BLM Public Affairs Specialist at wabrown@blm.gov for more information. Tourism to Carlsbad Caverns National Park Contributes $31.9 Million to Local Economy

Carlsbad, New Mexico - A new National Park Service reports shows that 394,000 visitors made the trek to Carlsbad Caverns National park in 2023. Visitors spent a reported $29.1 million to communities near the park. According to a news release by the Carlsbad Caverns National park, that spending supported 359 jobs in the local area and had a cumalative benefit of $31.9 million to the local economy. City of Carlsbad Proposed Plastic Bag Ban Ordinance

Carlsbad, New Mexico - The City of Carlsbad is schedule to vote on a proposed plastic bag ban ordinance at their September 24th meeting.

If you would like to speak to Carlsbad City Council members in person, you must go to the September 10th meeting. Carlsbad City Council allows public comment at the end of each meeting, so September 10th is your last in person chance to address the council.

There are plenty opportunities to let your city councilor know how you feel. They are asking everyone to email your councilors. You can email them all directly here.

High's in the mid 80's with low's overnight reaching to the mid to low 60's. Expected to be sunny all week with very little impact from the winds. Seems like nice week of weather!
